Summary:
This is the summary of the paper that should be submitted on-line
for selection. It should be concise and short, approximately 100
words. The instructions you are reading now are meant to guide
you in preparing a camera-ready abstract for the MIP2006 conference,
which will be held on 23-27 January 2006 in Newcastle Upon Tyne,
United Kingdom. The abstract submission deadline is 31 of October
2005. Authors can choose to submit an abstract for oral or poster
presentation, and if accepted, a full paper will be required according
to these guidelines. Abstracts acceptance will be notified by
15 of November 2005. All submission will be made online on the
conference website http://www.miponline.org under Papers/Submission.

1 Introduction
The organizers invite you to ensure the success of MIP2006 through
your attendance and, especially, through contributed papers on
your latest work.
2 Abstract preparation
Authors should submit an electronic version of their abstracts
via the miponline.org website (Fig. 1) before 31st October 2005
on one of the following topics.
2.1 MIP Topics
1. Fundamental scientific aspects of paper degradation (analyses,
stability evaluation, accelerated ageing..).
2. Chemical aspects of active conservation (conventional methods,
inhibitors, deacidification)
3. Physical aspects of active conservation (paper splitting, leaf
casting, cleaning..)
4. Preventive conservation (storage conditions, emission, indoor
air quality)
5. Policies and practice issues in conservation and restoration
6. Standardization
Please use this document as the template to your abstract. The
accepted format is Adobe pdf and the file should not exceed 1
Mbyte. Receipt of your abstract will be confirmed by e-mail.

Your full paper, actually a two-page extended abstract, should
be in black print on white paper and formatted as follows.
All margins should be set to 25 mm. Use a two-column format (77
mm wide each with a 6mm separation). The recommended typeface
is "Times New Roman" (Table 1). Spanning two columns,
center the title (bold face, 14 pt) followed by the author's names
(normal face 12 pt), their affiliation, postal address, and e-mail
address of the corresponding author for future correspondence
(normal face, 10 pt). Underline the corresponding author. Then,
a vertical spacing of 20 pt separates the summary (10 pt italics,
starting with bold face italic "Summary:") followed
by a blank line and by one line containing "Keywords:".
The main text and minimum font size within all figures is 10 pt.
Major headings should be left-justified 12 pt bold face, and sub-headings
appear left-justified on a separate line with initial capitals
in 10 pt bold face. Use a vertical space of 3 points before paragraphs.
References are listed and numbered at the end of the paper and
in the text referred to by numbers in square brackets in the following
manner: normal article [1] and article in proceedings [2].

Illustrations and tables should not extend into the margins, and
should be numbered and contain a caption (normal face 9 pt). Do
not use colors. Try to avoid vertical lines in tables. Final version
of the abstracts will be requested after acceptance notification.
